Born in Zawiercie, Poland, Halina finished schooling in Exploratory Geology at the Academy of Mining and Steel in Krakow in 1978. She then worked 3 years at a Geological company in Czestochowa all the way up to when she left Poland in August of 1981. In April of 1980 she met an Ecuadorian, her future husband, who was a friend studying at AGH in Poland and so when he finished they left together to Ecuador. From April 1983 until today she gives lectures at the Geology and Petroleum College at Quito’s National Polytechnic School as a Professor.
During her 27 years teaching at this school she has published a few books and many articles, took part in many conventions in Ecuador and beyond. In the 80’s and 90’s she also took part in consulting many firms in regards to geology and petroleum in the field as well as apprenticeship with students of the Polytechnic School. All of this experience allowed her to learn much about Ecuador, and not the Ecuador that tourists know, but the real Ecuador – diverse and exotic.
In 1999 Halina, along with her husband who worked as a geologist, established a hotel in the central part of the ‘La Mariscal’ section of Quito, where tourist life is mostly concentrated. The hotel is found in a historical building that is recognized by the City Hall as a cultural heritage building. Halina and her husband also operate a tour office, which offers people from Poland, as well as the entire world, trips around Ecuador, Colombia and Panama, with tour guides in English and Polish.
